Shaye arrived in Budapest in 1944 thanks to forged documents given to him by members of the movement. He helped set up bunkers. He traveled to the town of Munkács in order to distribute forged documents. Shaye stayed in a bunker in Laci köz that was attacked by brutal Arrow Cross troopers and the gendarmes. Shaye and his friends tried to break out and were killed in an exchange of fire with the attackers. Together with Shaye, Sándor Guttmann, György Schwartz and another seven friends from Miskolc, whose names are unknown, were killed.
